Pre-authorized remittances
Starting in September, Fairview is setting up a system of pre-authorized remittances with the bank the church uses.  This system allows your offering to be debited from your chequing account automatically once a month, around the 20th of each month.  Sign-up sheets require a void cheque and are available in the church narthex.  At any point in time, you have the flexibility in changing the amount of your monthly givings or cancelling in entirely.  Fairview will be charged a relatively small administration fee for this service, but there is not cost to the individuals who wish to participate.  Please pick up a sign-up sheet for more details.
Parking during the Olympics

YES, we are open during the Olympics!

Olympic Games Impacts
Parking and Transportation during February

During February although parking restrictions will reduce the availability of parking around the church it will still be possible to get here and to park. Make your plans now.

Use an alternative

Walk - if you live in the vicinity of the church plan to walk, leaving your car at home.

Bike - find your rain gear and lock and join Vancouver's thousands of cyclists. Fairview is close to bikeways on 10th Ave and on Cypress.

Transit - buses on Broadway and on Granville are frequent, even on Sundays. During the Games some routes will be more frequent (especially 99 B-Line on Broadway). Expect them also to be busy.

If you're driving

Save spaces for those who need them most - help us to keep the church's limited parking available for those who can't walk the distance and for visitors.

Plan to park a little farther away - Parking restrictions will apply both directions on 12th Ave and southbound on Fir St so plan to park somewhere else.  Some street parking is available northbound on Fir, on the adjacent blocks of 10th and 11th Avenues. Parking is abundant on 13th, 14th and 15th Ave west of Fir as well as on Pine. Pay close attention to restrictions such as for resident parking. Pay parking is also available at Chapters on 10th Ave at Granville.

Fill your car - Offer a ride to someone so they don't have to drive. And if they have trouble walking, use the church parking lot for drop-off and pickup.

Leave extra time - Traffic and parking may take longer than normal. Leave some extra time and Know Before You Go.

Cambodia Mission Trip 2010

March 13 to 28, 2010

The success of Rahab’s House has been more than we could have possibly hoped for: the “Kids’ Club,” the medical clinic and the church have all outgrown the space available at Rahab’s House.  Ratanak Foundation has purchased the biggest building in Svay Pak – a building that was originally built as a full service sex hotel but was never finished.  This building, now named The Sanctuary, will become the new center for the ministry in Svay Pak.

The Sanctuary is currently being finished by local contractors.  Ratanak Foundation is sending two teams to Cambodia to do the final painting and preparation for the building to house these various ministries and a school.  Fairview will be a part of Team 1.

Rahab's House, Cambodia
Mission Trip 2008

A team from Fairview went to Cambodia in May 2008 to reconstruct Rahab's House.  They worked with a well respected NGO to renovate what was once a "child brothel" into a school/ministry centre. This building was one of the brothels raided in 2003 by International Justice Mission as seen on the NBC Dateline Special on child prostitution in Cambodia.

The Field Team's Daily Diary recorded the trip.

Listen to the Field Team's preliminary reports we presented in Fairview on May 25, 2008.
